Abstract

The gut and lung microbiota are essential to health and vital for he development of the immune system and homeostasis. The vital cross-talk between mucosal tissues of our body in chronic respiratory conditions as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cystic fibrosis in stable conditions as well as during exacerbations is still poorly studied and understood. The gut-lung interaction and the dysbiosis of microbiota and leaky guts in the aetiology of these chronic respiratory diseases are reviewed.

Keywords: Asthma. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Cystic fibrosis. Dysbiosis. Gut microbiome. Leaky gut.
